Due to the predicted stormy weather for tomorrow, the bus company has cancelled the Maryland Science Center Trip for tomorrow. The trip has been tentatively rescheduled for March 26th.

SOCIAL STUDIES
February 22, 2010
All classes are working on their technology projects. We've had two opportunities now to work on computers during class time to complete research for the storyboards that are due Thursday, February 25. The final power point project (on the flashdrive) is due on March 19th.
This project is a requirement by the State of Delaware for all middle school students. If this project is not turned in on March 19th, the student will receive a 50% for the project. Students were given a power point presentation and a packet of information about the project on January 5. I wanted to be sure the students had at least 6 weeks to complete their research for the storyboards. The power point project will only take 15-20 minutes to complete once the story board is approved. Student will have 3 weeks to complete the power point project once the storyboards are approved.
Students are studying Ancient Egypt in Chapter 3. This chapter will be read mostly for homework so we may have more class time for group discussions and activities.

Due to the unexpected snow storm the Chapter 2 test on Ancient Worlds has been changed to Friday, February 19.
Also, the storyboards for the technology project originally due February 12 are now due February 25. This is to accomodate those students that do not have computer access at home. We had two class periods scheduled for the computer lab, but due to the snow we were not in school to take advantage of the computer lab. Students will work in the lab before the 25th so they may complete their storyboards.
Tuesday and Wednesday are review days for the chapter test for all classes. Thursday Social Studies A will have an additional review day and Social Studies B and C will be in the computer lab for the technology project.
Students should be actively studying their notes each night for the chapter test.

HOMEROOM
Welcome back after a snowy, unexpected break!
- Buddy photos are $5 and (for 6th grade) will be taken on Thursday, February 25 from 11:10-11:45am.
- Field Trip to the Maryland Science Center is on Friday, February 26. All forms and money should be in by Wednesday, February 17.
- The Winter Leap Program start date has been pushed back, it will run from March 1 to April 1.
- The Heart for Haiti Dance will be Friday, February 19th from 6-9pm, the cost is $5 per student.

All classes worked on Section 4, Chapter 2 terms and vocabulary on Monday. Tuesday the classes will read Chapter 2, section 5 and Wednesday will start on terms and vocab on section 5.

This week in Math A the students are working on integers. We will add, subtract, multiply and divide integers. This is Chapter 10 in the book.
Math B and C started Try, Check and Revise in Chapter 3 on Monday. Mid-week both classes will start Metrics in Chapter 9, starting on page 431.
All classes will have math homework this week.
